In a successful year, our strategic initiatives revealed the extent of our capabilities, ambition, and a clear direction. We aim to keep our readers informed about our activities, so here’s a brief overview of our achievements in 2023!

First and foremost, we express our gratitude on behalf of our entire team to our clients who place their trust in us. Together, we embark on a dedicated journey toward regenerative living, and we appreciate the collaborative adventure we share with each of them.

Our observation of a subtle shift revealed an increasing demand for information pre-purchase. The rise in Potential Reports from Terracrua Design mirrors a growing awareness that knowledge is integral to unlocking a property’s full potential. The Potential Analysis service offers clients a thorough examination of a property’s possibilities before acquisition. Going beyond traditional assessments, this service provides detailed insights into the landscape’s features, challenges, and opportunities. The analysis includes a comprehensive evaluation of the site’s topography, soil quality, environmental factors, regulatory considerations, existing infrastructure, and potential risks.

In 2023, projects unfolded with precision, demonstrating our commitment across borders—from the scenic landscapes of Portugal to the dynamic environment of the United States and back to the roots of Angola. Terracrua Design’s Masterplan Project Service offers clients a comprehensive approach to property development.

This service involves meticulous site analysis, client collaboration, and strategic design to create a holistic and resilient masterplan. Integrating regenerative practices and cross-disciplinary expertise, the service provides clients with a long-term vision for their property, guiding them through phased implementation.

To accommodate growth, we expanded our team. Key figures like Nuno Mamede Santos, Susana Santos, Lotte Steijns, Miguel Clemente, Ana Santos, and André Carvalho, welcomed Miguel Madeira on board, enhancing our collective strength. Miguel Madeira’s debut was marked with the development and delivery of the Vale das Casas Novas project in Lavre, soon followed by other design projects, as we found in Miguel Madeira a perfect fit for the design team!

Commemorating this noteworthy addition, our design team embarked on a visit to Ribeira do Mosteiro, utilizing our analytical skills to thoroughly assess various landscape aspects. This strategic visit not only allowed us to delve into the intricacies of access, erosion control, microinterventions, productive terraces, water lines, and biomass management but also served as a valuable team-building event. The collaborative nature of the visit further strengthened our collective capabilities, fostering a cohesive and dynamic work environment among our team members.

Our team has been actively engaged in a dynamic work environment, encompassing both office-based collaboration, remote work from individual residences, and on-site presence. This multifaceted approach underscores our commitment to adaptability and ensures effective collaboration, allowing us to deliver exceptional results across diverse settings. Our objective remains steadfast: contributing to a long-term vision, fostering a harmonious relationship with nature, and creating resilient ecosystems for our clients and properties.

Noteworthy projects of 2023 included Arrabacinha and Vimieiro in Colos, Quinta da Pesqueira in Tomar, Apra in Loulé, Herdade da Canada in Aljezur, Colossus forest park in Colos, Vale da Cerva in Monchique, Mãe Terra in Santiago do Cacém, Monte Novo do Ameixial in Garvão, Herdade da Raposa in Colos, Vale das Casas Novas in Lavre, Fontoura in Cercal, KPA in Oklahoma U.S.A., Cucumbi v3 in Alcácer do Sal, Brotas in Mora, Herdade da Lavareja in Troviscais, and Azinhaga das Pétalas in Azinheira dos Barros. In Angola, we started the “Fazenda S.” project, an 800Ha farm and coffee operation project, employing a keyline framework to structure all future activities. These projects unfolded progressively, each narrating a unique transformation story.

In the realm of implementation coordination, we’ve been actively supporting our clients in the realization of key earthworks and other tasks, including projects like Cucumbi, Colossus, Vinagra Village, and Vale das Casas Novas, among others.

In May, we celebrated the release of the captivating “Histórias à sombra do Montado cartoon and video documentary. This engaging production featured insights from Nuno and Miguel, providing valuable perspectives on the Montado, its significance, and future prospects. You can download this cartoon here.

Beyond projects, international partnerships are growing, and we had the pleasure to host for some days Fabian Feraux from Agrilandscape, who came for a visit, and to plan with Nuno the next steps in a international consultancy and formation perspective.

Additionally, it’s noteworthy to highlight the success of the video produced back in 2020 by our esteemed friends at Life Reimagined, showcasing our work on their property. The video has surpassed this december an impressive 115,000 views on YouTube, underlining the widespread interest in regenerative design and development, and in our projects.

In a year marked by decisions, a paramount one was the complete transition from traditional project delivery support to full Tablet GPS delivery. With a visual presentation of detailed project plans, you gain a clearer comprehension and streamlined communication. The GPS tablet ensures efficient project monitoring, providing real-time insights into progress and milestones for enhanced transparency. Moreover, this technology fosters a collaborative partnership, enabling you to independently manage your project while maintaining seamless access to all relevant project information.
