Reviving Monchique: A Sustainable Restoration Project for a Fire-Stricken Region”
Today we had the pleasure of visiting a project at the top of Monchique, an area that was severely affected by the 2018 wildfires.
The restoration and ecological structuring actions are currently being prepared for the upcoming autumn season, in the following sequence:
- Improving vehicular and pedestrian access;
- Creating water retention structures;
- Installing necessary structures and infrastructure;
- Planting strategic riverbanks, hedges, and structures;
- Renaturalizing specific areas (Zone 5);
- Establishing productive zones.
